French Regulations on Machetes and Edged Tools

Machetes are professional tools designed for gardening, brush clearing, and outdoor activities. Their sale and use are governed by French law. Here is essential information to know before any purchase.

⚠️ Minimum Age Requirement

In accordance with French law, the acquisition and possession of machetes are prohibited for individuals under 18 years of age. By placing an order on our site, you certify that you are of legal age.

🚫 Carrying and Transporting

The carrying and transporting of a machete in public are strictly prohibited without a legitimate reason. The following are considered legitimate reasons:

• Leisure Activities: hiker, fisherman, hunter, gardener, camper
• Professional Activities: military, landscaper, farmer, forester, logger

Outside of these contexts, carrying a machete constitutes a criminal offense that can lead to penalties.

📦 Transport and Storage

When transporting, the machete must imperatively be:

• Stored in a sheath, cover, or protective case
• Placed in a bag or vehicle trunk, out of immediate reach
• Accompanied by proof of the activity being carried out if necessary

🔧 Usage Advice

Our machetes are delivered with a protective sharpening for transport safety reasons. We recommend sharpening the blade before first use with a sharpening stone or a suitable steel rod for carbon steel.
